King Of The Hill

President’s weekend has come and gone.  The long weekend was a great time to regroup and use that extra day off to get small projects done and to spend with family and friends.

For me, the past weekend included paint cans, some 2×4’s and a whole lot of patience.  I can’t wait to show you some before and after pictures of the new Results Only facility!  Sometimes pictures from the interim aren’t as impressive.  But before and after pictures definitely tell a different story.  I will share those with you ASAP.

I am also excited because I have received great news this week.  Living in Arizona, most of my clients tend to gravitate to the colder climates when they get away for the weekend.  For Presidents Day that means skiing.   This week has been one great email after another followed by smiling faces as they walk in the door for their training sessions.  Here are some of the comments I’ve received from my clients:

“Bobby, I cannot believe how strong I felt on the mountain.”

“There is no way I could have done those 5 extra runs without your help.”

“It was great to be flying down the mountain, faster, more in control and without fear of getting hurt because I knew my legs were strong.”

This is all because they put in the time over the past few weeks training.  Overall conditioning, not sport-specific training, is what does the trick.  While my clients have experienced the benefits to their training first-hand on the mountains, they have also found it easier to get through their daily activates, skip the elevator and climb more stairs than before, not to mention how much better they sleep.

I would like to get some feedback on the grocery checklist, and food log you are keeping.  I hope you have found out that making good decisions when it comes to nutrition is not all that hard.  I have received over three dozen emails from subscribers telling me how they have lost 3 – 5 lbs simply by tracking their food habits and using the food log and grocery list.  These results were achieved with no change in exercise routines, not even any intensity changes.  People just began to realize that food choices and portion control are every bit as important as exercise.

Let me know how you are doing.  If you haven’t started a food log, don’t worry … Start it today!

Today’s Feature Article is about adding a little playtime to your workouts.  Although it is easy to do, I think sometimes people forget to add the fun factor.  Workouts should be fun and hard, a beneficial combination for your body and your mood.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Hopefully the new Results Only facility will be open for business by our next newsletter.

One more thing, if you receive this email and it looks a little strange, html code is coming through or the pictures don’t seem quite right, please let us know.  We have been trying a new system and want to make sure it is going well.

Also, we send out a newsletter every 2 weeks.  I don’t want to bug you too much and I know that your inbox can get full quickly.  But if you ever miss an issue or you are not sure if the newsletter or weekly motivational tips are getting caught in a spam filter, let us know that too.

Finally when you do receive this newsletter, for this week only…simply reply to support@resultsonly.com and type Got it in the subject line so we know you are receiving all our stuff.

Progress On the New Gym

Hi there!

What a weekend!  A playoff at the FBR Open with a great finish by JB Holmes over Phil Mickelson, The New York Giants give us one of the best Super Bowls ever, Arizona got a few days of much needed rain that did nothing to dampen the festivities and I have made a huge dent in opening the Results Only Phoenix location.

There’s so much to talk about!

I will let the talking heads on TV and radio shows re-live and critique all the goings on in the sports world.

Weather is weather.  But if you are not familiar with Phoenix – to get the amounts of rain we have gotten lately is AWESOME!  It keeps the grass greener, and the state more prepared for our hot summers.

As for the gym, rebuilding bathrooms and showers, laying flooring and ordering new equipment has everyone excited.

I had a good time this weekend while watching the Super Bowl, specifically because of the Under Armour commercial where the athletes were pulling tires, using chains and performing bungee cord sprints.

These are all moves I use when training my clients.  It was hilarious to see my clients come into the gym Monday morning and mention that they saw all these great athletes using the same moves I use with them.

You see … I know you all want to be in the best shape of your lives.

But at times we just see the hype and overlook the fundamentals.

So this issue’s Feature Article gets back to basics and contains 3 simple and easy steps to get you fit and firm in February.

NONE OF THEM HAVE TO DO WITH EXERCISE.

All have to do with your lifestyle.

Change a little here; add a little there and you put yourself in position to make huge changes rapidly.

As for me, I am back to the grind stone fitting in construction in-between clients and coaching.

All worth the effort to be up and running by March 1st!

Bobby’s New Gym

I really love this time of year!  People flock to Arizona to enjoy our amazing weather.  When they arrive, many are motivated to get outside and climb our mountains and peaks.  The streets are often filled with road bikers because of how biker-friendly our state is.

I am also excited because Arizona will have an amazing weekend in two weeks.  Most of you know I grew up in Long Island, NY.  Therefore, when New York teams do well on the national stage I get excited.   While I am a member of a Phoenix Suns Board of Directors and I root for them regularly, it is a challenge to get behind the Phoenix Cardinals football team.  They just never seem to get it together.

Now that the Giants have won the NFC Championship, I will definitely be more interested in the Super Bowl.  I train a number of people who are closely involved with the Super Bowl and have been offered tickets to the big game.  But I would rather stay home and watch it on TV and avoid the chaos.

That same weekend the PGA Tour will be in town for the FBR Open.  I am usually very busy with the PGA tour players I work with who are in the tournament. Once again, I like to go during the week rather than on Sunday because it is just a different environment with the larger crowds.  So as you can see, there is a great deal of excitement in the state of Arizona on the horizon.

Guess what?  There is even more of a reason to be excited in Arizona.

As many of my readers know, I left the life of gym owner 7 years ago when I moved to AZ.  Well, apparently you can take the gym owner out of the gym, but not the gym out of the gym owner.

Yes, you guessed it.  Results Only West Coast will be opening in March!  I am very excited about this.  I will give you an update on its progress once some of the renovations have been completed.  At Results Only West Coast, I will provide “old school” training and teach some of the people out here what going to the gym is really all about.

Now for those of you who wish you could join me and all my clients, I encourage you to stop by if you are ever in Phoenix for a business trip or on vacation.  I will definitely get you in the club and show you the ropes.

But fear not… The long anticipated Catalyst Coaching Online Fitness Program will be along soon enough.  It will have all the same workouts we use in the gym available to you at a fraction of the cost.

As for the type of training I like to use with my high-profile clients and celebrities…

It is all about intensity and time management.  Because intensity is such an important part of what I do, it’s the subject of this issue’s feature article.  It is arguably the most important part of what I teach.  It’s pretty simple.  You either do it or you don’t.

If you do it … you will see results.

If you don’t… well then, I hope you like the way you work out now.

It’s time for me to go put my tool belt back on and get back to work on the new facility.  See, I told you I love this time of year!

Welcome, To Our New Subscribers!

For many of you, it is your first time receiving this newsletter.  I want to welcome the hundreds of new subscribers who joined our community during the holiday season!

The good news is, when you choose to follow any of the programs I offer at Results Only you will quickly learn that the systems I have in place are fun, motivating and easy to implement.

My last newsletter included one of these time-tested systems.

The basic premise of this system that you write down your all of your goals in specific categories.  The goals should be specific, long and short term, and in an attainable order.

So, how are you doing staying on track?

Are you checking things off little by little?

Are you learning that by taking things in bite-size chunks, big projects don’t seem so overwhelming anymore?

Today’s feature article discusses great tips to use when eating out.  Eating out always tends to be a sticky subject.  So, I thought I would share a few gems of advice I give to all my clients.

Going to a restaurant and enjoying time with friends, family and business associates should not be the death of a healthy nutrition plan.

Read on and see why.

Again, I want to welcome all of our new subscribers to the Results Only Family! See all the goodies we have in store for you at www.ResultsOnly.com.

Your Goals Will Motivate You!

Regardless of which religion, if any, that you follow or what traditions you may have, I hope this final week of 2007 will be a relaxing and joyful one in which you get to spend time with family and friends.

I continually stress the importance of goal-setting with many of my clients and all of you newsletter subscribers.  The ability to set clear and attainable goals is the most important tool to ensure the success of any accomplishment.

You may want to finally get into that bikini, lower your golf handicap to a single digit, get a raise at work, or do 100 push ups without stopping.  To successfully reach your goal, you must make sure you are clear and focused on the end result.

Many people choose to take this week off from work and spend time with family and friend.  And for many, this week is a time to decompress and re-energize for 2008.

In my world, I must prepare for the onslaught of clients with New Years resolutions and reinvent ways to keep them motivated after the first few weeks.  The good news is that I have a proven system that works for my clients.

AND by using a time-tested program to lose body fat and learn healthy lifestyle changes, I know that every single one of you will succeed.

So today I am going to teach you one of the methods I use for keeping people focused after the initial excitement of New Years resolutions wears off.

I want you to take out a sheet of paper or index card to carry it around for the next few days.

Now divide the card or paper into five columns and title the top of each column.  The categories in no specific order are:
• Career
• Health
• Education
• Finance
• Family
Over the next few days, until New Years Eve, I want you to write down things you want to accomplish in each area on that card.  They can be large or small, but all should be easily attainable.

Then on New Years Eve, before you head out to that great party, take out a fresh sheet of paper or index card and prioritize them from most important to less important.

Many of the items that are most important will take several steps and therefore will need to be at the top of the list.  For example, if losing 20 lbs is most important… well you can’t go to bed and wake up 20 lbs lighter.  You need to plan, download workouts, make lists for the grocery store, set out a calendar to ensure you get to the gym and make time for fitness.

When you look at your list you will be inclined to take the necessary steps to accomplish your goal.  Look over your list everyday when you wake up and before you go to bed.  Make sure you do a little something everyday to get closer and closer to reaching your goals.

You will see how easy it is to check more and more items off your list and ultimately build the lifestyle you want for yourself.

To help you with this project I am including an article on items you need to have with you in your car, luggage or around your office to ensure fitness success in 2008.
