Your Goals Will Motivate You!

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Regardless of which religion, if any, that you follow or what traditions you may have, I hope this final week of 2007 will be a relaxing and joyful one in which you get to spend time with family and friends.

I continually stress the importance of goal-setting with many of my clients and all of you newsletter subscribers.  The ability to set clear and attainable goals is the most important tool to ensure the success of any accomplishment.

You may want to finally get into that bikini, lower your golf handicap to a single digit, get a raise at work, or do 100 push ups without stopping.  To successfully reach your goal, you must make sure you are clear and focused on the end result.

Many people choose to take this week off from work and spend time with family and friend.  And for many, this week is a time to decompress and re-energize for 2008.

In my world, I must prepare for the onslaught of clients with New Years resolutions and reinvent ways to keep them motivated after the first few weeks.  The good news is that I have a proven system that works for my clients.

AND by using a time-tested program to lose body fat and learn healthy lifestyle changes, I know that every single one of you will succeed.

So today I am going to teach you one of the methods I use for keeping people focused after the initial excitement of New Years resolutions wears off.

I want you to take out a sheet of paper or index card to carry it around for the next few days.

Now divide the card or paper into five columns and title the top of each column.  The categories in no specific order are:
• Career
• Health
• Education
• Finance
• Family
Over the next few days, until New Years Eve, I want you to write down things you want to accomplish in each area on that card.  They can be large or small, but all should be easily attainable.

Then on New Years Eve, before you head out to that great party, take out a fresh sheet of paper or index card and prioritize them from most important to less important.

Many of the items that are most important will take several steps and therefore will need to be at the top of the list.  For example, if losing 20 lbs is most important… well you can’t go to bed and wake up 20 lbs lighter.  You need to plan, download workouts, make lists for the grocery store, set out a calendar to ensure you get to the gym and make time for fitness.

When you look at your list you will be inclined to take the necessary steps to accomplish your goal.  Look over your list everyday when you wake up and before you go to bed.  Make sure you do a little something everyday to get closer and closer to reaching your goals.

You will see how easy it is to check more and more items off your list and ultimately build the lifestyle you want for yourself.

To help you with this project I am including an article on items you need to have with you in your car, luggage or around your office to ensure fitness success in 2008.

Holidays Schomlidays. Get It Done!

Friday, December 21st, 2007

It is that time of year when people have a hard time getting everything into their day.

What is often the first thing to get skipped?

Workouts of course.

Let me share one way I’ve helped my clients stay on task during this season.  I am the king of group training.  I train groups of 3 to 300.  Motivating people to keep active when there is a group atmosphere is where I thrive.  SO when I see a little dip in the intensity factor, I jump on it.

A few days ago I knew that many of my clients were in the mode of holiday parties and the hustle and bustle of the season.  Now normally when they arrive at my studio, I have a circuit set up and ready to go for all of them.  I utilize stability balls, balance boards, weights, kettle bells, slides, bikes, tubes… you name it.  If it will make them sweat, lose body fat and feel good then I am on it.

Here in AZ, we have the best climate about this time of year.  So I usually send them on “the route”.  This is a short 1 mile walk that takes very little time, but it allows them to gossip and get the chattiness out of their system so when they return to the gym they are ready to go.

As I said, they normally walk in and there is a full circuit set up and they are waiting to hear the instructions on how long the stations will be and what exercises I have conjured up for them.

No such luck on this day.  There was nothing set up.

You can imagine the looks on their faces. “Bobby, are you sick?”  “What is wrong?”  Where is everything?”  “Is it time to go already?”

Bummer on all accounts for them.

You see, I was about to take every excuse out of the book for them.  And I am going to do the same for you too.  The following is the workout they did that day.  It was meant to use only body weight and it was meant to be done fast.  They could do it just once or they could do it up to four times.  Didn’t matter to me.

Short on time?  No problem, this workout takes less than 7 minutes.

Think you need to do hours and hours of cardio to get the results you seek?  If you have followed me for any length of time, you know I would rather you do some strength training than cardio any day of the week.

SO let’s get to the meat.  Below is the same workout they did.  Pick and choose what works for you and fit it in before you hit the showers, go to a holiday party, or first thing in the morning before you head to the mall.

Any way you look at it… getting a little something in is better than nothing.

Each move is done for 30-40 seconds with no rest in between.  If you do it in this order you will not need much of a warm up.  I would suggest doing a flight of stairs 2 to 3 times and then you are ready to go.

Squats                                                               30 seconds
Push ups                                                           30 seconds
Squats                                                               30 seconds
Up-downs                                                         30 seconds
Side Bridge right                                                30 seconds
Side Bridge left                                                  30 seconds
Split lunge                                                         30 seconds
Alternate crunches right and left                       30 seconds
Side lunge right                                                 30 seconds
Side lunge left                                                   30 seconds
Regular crunches                                              30 seconds
Mountain climbers                                            30 seconds
Power jacks                                                      30 seconds

Total Time:                                                    6.30 minutes

Stretch.

There you have it.  Have that extra glass of wine guilt-free.  Still, no cheat foods.  But you can have an extra libation if you choose.  You will be a fat burning machine for a few hours after 2-3 times through this superset.

So go to your event happy and content knowing you did something good for yourself.  That is really what it is all about anyway.

Right?  Feel good about yourself this holiday season.  Go the extra step and you will see how worth it the process is for you.

12 Days of Fitness!

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Hi,

How much fun am I having?

I am thrilled!  I have not been this excited in years.

2008 is looking HUGE for Results Only.  With a new environment, new programs, and more clients and teams to coach than ever before, what a kick-butt way to end 2007!

And participating in the 12 Days of Fitness, one of the largest gift giving programs on the internet this season, has been a joy.

There are so many people who have contributed videos, audios, and special reports to this unbelievable program.  Meaning, there is a ton of great info out there for you to take advantage of right now.

Am I worried that someone can steal my thunder?

No Way.

I believe that variety is the spice of life.  If you find something on the 12 Days of Fitness that inspires you to workout or make a positive change in your life, then I am all for it.  I hope the ideas, diets, workouts and motivational information from this program will help keep you going for as long as you need.

AND…

I know that when you want straight talk on something you will return to Results Only to give you correct and proper information on fitness-related topics.

The great thing about the 12 Days of Fitness is that you don’t have to sign up for everything.  Just tag the things you would like and then you will receive only that info.  Sure, you will probably get their newsletters and other sales pitches but you can always unsubscribe.  My take is that I always want to know what is going on in the fitness industry.  Good or bad.  Plus, you never know what gems of information you may come across.

What’s that you say?

You never signed up?

Well I checked with Dax and Pat over at 12 Days of Fitness and they are ready to send you the rest of the program without hesitation. So click here and you should be good to go.

Results Only … It’s Not Just A Name, It’s a Lifestyle!

That brings me to the point of today’s article:

You have access to the most powerful goal-seeking mechanism ever created and you are NOT using it to its full potential!

It’s your Mind.

Your mind is the most integral, and under-tapped part of your lifestyle.

You are not even fully aware of how much your mindset dictates your results (and every aspect of your whole life for that matter!).

So stay tuned for the Special report during The 12 Days of Fitness.  You will learn how to develop your mindset and your “M” Factor.
