Busy, busy, busy!

I have been working like crazy since the last time you heard from me.  I flew back East for a mega personal training conference, got to visit my grandfather on Long Island, started working feverishly on some new programming, launching a referral system for the gym, AND I am offering a cool program at the gym to lose 10 lbs in October which is the 10th month of the year and the month of my Birthday (18th for those of you keeping track at home in our studio audience).

As I mentioned in my last newsletter, being one of the top 1% of trainers in the country is no easy task.  You are expected to stay on the cutting-edge to ensure you create an iron clad system of programming that is guaranteed to help your clients succeed.  I am totally up for the challenge and continue to strive to be the best.

I mentioned my trip to Long Island to visit my grandfather because he is getting on in years and we both share the same birthday.  I feel blessed to share that special day with “the big guy” for many reasons.  One, I am the oldest of my generation so I feel a sense of obligation to carry the torch for the family.  And two, I am the only male in the family.  ALL girls.  You can imagine there is a special place for the oldest and only boy.

He entered the hospital before I left to fly back East for my seminar.  Apparently his medications needed to be tweaked and that can be a troublesome at 87 years of age.  As soon as I arrived he perked up, we chatted and then I did what I do best.  I got him up and walking the halls of the hospital.

At 87, he was told he needed to keep active no matter what.  Walking, doing laundry, gardening, walking the dog are all appropriate activities for someone of that age.  On the other hand, doing 40 second intervals with 30 second rests is not necessary at that stage of life.

So it got me thinking.  What activities are appropriate for the different stages of our lives?  This week’s feature article will answer that.
