The Year Is Half Over. YIKES! Where Are You With The Goals You Set On January 1st?

July 3rd marked the halfway point of the year. The entire first half of 2008 has entered the history books and we are less than six months away from 2009.

How are you making out on those New Year’s Resolutions? Are you focused and checking them off one by one? Are you on track with your goals?

If you wanted to lose 30 lbs this year – have you lost the first 15lbs? If your goal was to workout 3 days a week – have you done 78 (half of 156) workouts? Did you want to make an extra $10,000 this year? Are you doing the things to make that possible?

Time flies and it waits for no one. So you cannot afford to waste a single second.

If your resolution was to reduce fat – make it a goal to start today!

If your resolution was to gain muscle – make it a goal start today!

Resolutions stink!! But goals are inspirational! Achieve a goal and you feel satisfied, empowered and fulfilled. Finish a resolution—well, you feel resolute! Not nearly as cool, right?

So if your goal is (insert anything here) – start TODAY!

Let’s say you made some resolutions. You wrote them down, made a list. Heck, you even started them and made a dent in your resolution. But you got a little behind. What do you need to do?

Adjust. Reset your priorities and make it a goal to move forward and keep moving forward from this point on.

50% of this year is gone forever. Will you make changes TODAY or will September 3rd creep up on you and then you’ve lost 75% of 2008? Then the holidays start and you say “Heck with it, I will start the 1st of the year.” Didn’t you say that last year?

I work with a lot of clients both in the gym and online and I get a ton of email. I train men and women who write everything down in a journal, and I have other clients who have tried every single workout plan under the sun. You know what I ask them? After I ask how they are doing on their programs I get the standard answer… “Great! Couldn’t be better!”

“Really? Tell me about it”, I would ask inquisitively.

Problem is they don’t expand more than that. They don’t quantify anything. Can they tell me how many pounds of muscle they have gained on the program? Or how much strength they have gained since the day they started? Very few people actually measure and take stock of their efforts when it comes to their health.

You wouldn’t do that with your money would you? If you invested $X, you better receive $Y return or you are going to make some changes, right? As you enter the second half of 2008, take stock of your efforts. Has your current return on any goal you have set for the year been worth the investment?

So let me say it again — 50% of this year is gone. FOREVER. Don’t waste a single second. Start TODAY.
